obituaries and newspapers
the world was in an uproar about the earthquake in so and so.
i only heard of it the next day when my classmates were talking about it. further details are not known.
i've no idea since when, but the paper holds little interest to me now. page after page filled with political agendas and news. not exactly what i find interesting or exciting, sorry to say.
so, imagine my surprise when my business course housemates are very much well informed on the happenings of the world. (now that i get thinking about it, it makes sense for them to be up to date on such matters.)
for the first time in months, i headed over to the online news portal to check on what have i been missing..
(i was wondering if our esteemed politicians are still very much immersed in their boring bickering which holds almost next to nil interest for me. apparently, a glance at the front page tells me yes. *rolls eyes*)
what i do like to read about are certain columnists who tend to write on quirky day to day random topics. that plus certain international news from time to time. and of course issues closer to home that appeal to my mind. (did you know there will be new film censorship and ratings by 15th this month?)
and one of them is Mary Schneider for Star Two. there were more when i was growing up, and among those who are not published in Star Two anymore is one called Stories for My Mother. i really did like that one, for the heartwarming and thoughtful writing.
here's a question, do you read obituaries? well, that was the theme for the recent column. i find it honest, funny and thoughtful at the same time. somehow, she never fails to make me laugh. [like the time when she wrote about turning into a human icicle over spending Christmas at her mother's place.]
But Then Again (Mary Schneider): Living a full Life.
never mind keeping update with the news. i somehow get the feeling that it would be much more beneficial to me if i keep up to date with my studies by comparison. XD
cos Physical Chem test today was horrible. don't ask.
this is a rather long and wordy post, but no fear. i'm just going to sleep now.
