anyway, Saffy is short for Saffron.. her siblings are Cadmium[Caddy], Indigo, and Rose.. all named after colours that are on the colour chart.. except Saffron herself.. because she is adopted.. and the secret of her past is contained in an Italian garden..
this story is a lot about belonging.. Saffron doesn't feel like she belongs in the family, even though they love her alot.. and they do really love her despite their eccentric and chaotic ways.. worth the read..
sure the story is a little laggy with plenty of detailing but with a good plot.. i would say that the the feature of this story is Sonea, a slum girl with a latent talent for magic in a world where such a privilege is reserved for the wealthy.. the first book is the most laggy one.. i remember feeling like yelling, "just get to the bleeding next point!!" when i was halfway through..
however, points are given to the good plot and realistic feel in the story.. i have read books featuring magic in the plot and many times, i couldn't help comparing with Harry Potter [my fave Magical book..] in terms of spell weaving and so on.. BMT however does not give me this inadequate feeling.. spells are well incoperated into the story that they don't feel out of place..
worth buying.. even though i wouldn't..
cos books are sometimes wasted on me.. all cos i read them too fast..
