princess princess...

now, before we get confused, i'll include one more picture to clear the air first..hope it helps..

ok, let's be honest 1st, do you like shoujo genre? bishounen wa sukii desuka? haha.. the characters in this anime is classified as really really 'bikuu'.. hm, i make it sound flat? to be honest, even the picture and the synopsis given on the CD cover does not suggest something with substance.. if anything, at the first glance, it seems ornery.. boring.. and just eye candy.. (I AM SERIOUS!!! this is first rate, perfect, kanpeki no eye candy that you can oogle at all day long.. too bad its only 12 episodes.. zannen ne.. hahahha..) WARNING: don't be fooled.. this anime is not just pretty pictures with a hollow storyline.. ok, it is not exactly that a good story to match Naruto or even at par with Fruits Basket, but it holds well on its own.. no spoilers!! hehe, here's a good hint= keep your eyes open and beware when the coaster ride transcends your expectations.. *evil cackle*
tashikani, the 'princess' in this all-boys school are true bishounen.. demo ne, doshite anime no namae wa princess princess... even on the cover, you can see that it says 'princess+princess' in english and katakana.. in nihongo, princess=hime, right?? so it seems a bit funny its not call hime+hime.. hmm, perhaps there's a reason in the language?
basically, this all-boys school is a class of its own.. its a good school with a long track record and they only take the best as their students.. still, this school stands out.. it has a tradition dating way back, where particularly handsome, 'beautiful' 1st year boys are selected by the student union to dress up as princesses.. haha, funny? but, these chosen 'princesses' are granted special treatment which includes something that all find interesting.. namely, $$$.. they take on this job for one year only and they get all sorts of weird jobs in exchange for handsome privileges.. their jobs include cheering up the boys of the school, enlightening their lives, cheering them on for competitions and sports meets.. i like Arisa-taichou, the head of the student union.. his evil yet brillant schemes create a lot of problems for the current three princesses.. and also, the legendary Sakomoto-sama, who is a perfect than perfect bishie, only physically... -_-"aih.. my only grouse, i think the producer places a lot importance in human expressions and facial language.. when watching it, you get areas where the tensions and emotions are expressed on the characters faces.. during these moments, the camera goes slow mo and gives you ample time to scrutinize them properly.. (no, i can't see any pimples or blemishes.. "-) i find it slightly irritating, more so when it gets exciting and you feel the suspense.. i could have turned the air blue!! haha.. plus points, chuck out some of the outfits, girls!!
we learn in the course of the anime that each of the princesses have their own weaknesses and face individual problems.. so? it shows that no matter how perfect one seems, we all are far from perfect.. we have our skeletons hidden away somewhere.. do we choose to run or to face it? hmm, good lesson though, and it teaches a lot about friendship and relationship..

P.S. i was not feeling my beat when i popped this into the DVD player..but after 2 episodes, it feels alright again.. haha, it was a surprise.. i bought it after staring at it for sometime.. i'm glad i made the right choice.. hey, it makes me laugh!! how can you go wrong with laughter?? plus side, i LOVE both the starting and ending songs!!!! cho sukii^^ wait till i can find them...
